Merino wool
Merino wool is a special form of virgin wool and comes from the Merino sheep, which is native to New Zealand, Australia, Argentina and South Africa. The term 'virgin wool' generally refers to any type of wool that comes from sheep. The fiber is very soft, highly curly, elastic and flaky. Merino wool therefore has numerous advantages:
- It does not scratch because the fibers are half as thick as those of ordinary new wool
- It is one of the most breathable fibers available, which is why there is no unpleasant feeling on the skin when it rains and your clothes get wet
- Merino wool actively adapts to temperature changes. It keeps you warm when it is cold and cools you down when it is warm
- Like normal new wool, merino wool is odor-neutralizing. Therefore, it rarely needs to be washed – often it is enough to air merino clothing outside
- Merino wool absorbs UV radiation and offers natural protection of up to SPF 50
- Merino wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable
